Hi - My grandpa has an old Jiffy ice auger with a white powerhead. We are estimating it is 25-30 years old. I am unsure what oil/fuel mix ratio to use in it. I know the current augers use 40:1. I asked Jiffy Customer Support and they said regardless of age all Jiffy's have always used 40:1.

I've done some research this year and here's some interesting info for those that still run the "old" Model 30 Jiffy augers with the 3hp Tecumseh engine: It states on my Auger and in my owners manual (which is 25 years old) that the fuel mixture should be 24:1. It also states in my owners manual.

I do mix a bit richer, but use the same gas from engines calling for 24:1 to 50:1. Yup, I have a 25 + year old Jiffy model 30, and I mix the Jiffy oil and a gallon of gas when I run out, and I use this same gas on my chain saw, weed whacker, auger, and leaf blower. Not sure what mix is recommended for all these items, but never had an issue.
